David A. Hoffman, J.D.

Born in 1954, Dave was raised on the banks of the Mississippi River in southern Minnesota. Transplanted to Kansas with his family in the early 1970s, he graduated from Topeka High School and then spent two years at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, before transferring to the Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City. There Dave completed his training to become a registered respiratory therapist. After a one year residency in respiratory therapy education, Dave became the Clinical Coordinator for KUMC's Respiratory Therapy Education Program. In 1979 Dave moved to the hospital side of the profession as the Chief Respiratory Therapist at KUMC. Dave obtained his B.A. degree in Health Care and Administration from Ottawa University in 1982. Included among his many professional offices and memberships, Dave served as President of the Kansas Repiratory Therapy Society and on the Board of Directors of the American Association for Respiratory Care.

In 1985, Dave left the Medical Center and enrolled in the University of Kansas School of Law. During his stay at KU law, Dave earned the American Jurisprudence Award in Civil Procedure, finished first in the Kansas Client Counseling Competition and was a semifinalist in the regional competition. During law school Dave worked as a medical-legal clerk for Don Vasos. This began a two decade long professional relationship that continues today.

Dave completed his law studies in 1987 and was admitted to the Kansas bar in early 1988. Drawing upon his years of experience in the health professions, the focus of Dave's practice has been representing victims of medical malpractice. While Dave's practice includes all forms of tort and personal injury, his background in cardio-pulmonary medicine provides him with unique insight into cases involving the failure to properly diagnose and treat cardiac disease.

In addition to his law practice, Dave is very active in local youth sport and has served on the governing bodies of numerous civil and professional associations.
